| Our famous Apple Sign! |
Apples, crafters and more on the Monroe Green can
only mean it’s the annual Apple Festival of St. Peter’s Episcopal church. Our festival is held the weekend after
Labor Day: Saturday ( 10am-5pm) and Sunday ( 11am-4pm) on the historic Monroe Green, Route 111.
We have 70 crafters
from several states, more than 800 homemade pies, tarts, cookies, cupcakes, and other baked goods, children’s games,
including two moon bounces, face painting, and prizes, and caramel apples, fresh apples and apple cider for sale. Also for
sale are hardy mums and asters in a riot of beautiful fall colors. St. Peter’s is a small parish of about 150
families and it takes a concerted effort by all to hold a two-day event of this size, which attracted more than 1,000 people
last year. All the baked goods are made by members of the parish.
“The Apples Festival represents a year’s
worth of planning and hard work by the members of this congregation,” said St. Peter’s Rector, the Rev. Kurt Huber.
“Each year it seems to get bigger and better. We are truly blessed!”

In addition to crafters, a number of stations are
set up on the Green offering a variety of items for sale. The Country Kitchen featured apple, strawberry-rhubarb and blueberry
pies, apple tarts, and an array of cookies, cupcakes, muffins, and brownies and assorted other treats. Back by popular demand
homemade apple crisp and ice cream will be served in the parish hall. Children's games are held on the town green by the
gazebo and include two moon bounces, face painting and a variety of new games and prizes for the kids. Willy the Clown will
be available for pictures with the children.
Hungry fairgoers will quench their thirsts and quell their appetites
at the Snack Bar, which sells a variety of foods, including breakfast sandwiches, homemade clam chowder, hot dogs, hamburgers,
grilled chicken sandwiches, French fries, baked potatoes with toppings, pizza and sugar friets, and a variety of hot and cold
beverages. All snack bar food is cooked to order.

The fair culminates on Sunday with the raffle. Rain or shine, our Apple Festival continues a tradition that is over 50
years in the making.
St.
Peter’s was founded in 1802, and holds Sunday worship services of the Holy Eucharist at 8am and 10:15 am from September
through June, and one service at 9 am during July and August. Church school, senior and junior choirs, adult education, outreach,
and fellowship opportunities are offered. All are welcome.
