Saturday, Dec 14 – Day of Service
The Monroe Clergy Association will hold a Day of Service in memory of the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary one year ago. The day starts at 10:00 with an Ecumenical service at the Monroe Congregational Church. Join us to light a candle, hear the bells toll, and pray for continued recovery.
After the service, from 11:00 – 1:00, St Peter’s will host arts and crafts for peace. We will also assemble “Cocoa for Caring” mugs. Learn more about this event on the Monroe Patch.
Christmas Gifts for Children in need
Through our partnership with Covenant to Care, St Peter’s has received the names and wishes of several needy children. Good News! All 30+ names have been taken, but if you still want to give a gift, we invite you to buy a second gift or a gift card for any of the children. The list is in the Narthex and gifts should be in the $20 range. Wrapped and tagged gifts and gift cards must be brought in by Dec 21.

Annual Children’s Christmas Pageant & Parish Pot Luck
This is one of the most festive Sundays of the year! In place of the 10:15 service, the children will perform their annual “no-rehearsal” Christmas Pageant. All children who wish to participate should arrive in the Undercroft by 9:30 to receive costumes and basic instructions. After the service, we will “Hang the Greens” in preparation for Christmas, then gather in the Undercroft for a pot luck luncheon and party. Sign up in the Narthex to bring a dish to share.
St Peter’s Church School
Children and Youth are part of the life and spirit of St Peter’s Church. On Sundays during the school year, children ages pre-K to teen may attend Church School during the 10:15 Service. The classes help guide them as they learn about the faith and hear stories from the Bible.
Family Sundays are held on selected Sundays throughout the year. Instead of attending Church School, children join in the 10:15 service, which features a Children’s Sermon and a simplified Children’s Liturgy.
Teen Youth Group
Most Sundays from 4:00-6:00, teens are invited to hang out at St Peter’s for food and activities. There is always a meal, which the youth group themselves prepare, and a variety of activities, also chosen by the youth group. Some past activities have included a scavenger hunt, a camp in, and game time. The afternoon ends with compline at 5:30, which is a time of reflection, sharing and prayer.
The youth group is open to the public. You do not have to attend St Peter’s to join the youth group. All are welcome.
Adult Bible Study
For Fall 2013, we will be studying the Gospel of Mark. A free study book is available for participants. Classes meet on Wednesdays, beginning October 2, at 10:30 am and 7:30 pm. Those not able to join us in person are invited to participate our new online study course. Please contact Rev Kurt for more details.
We have something for everyone. Whether you like to read, sing, knit, garden, build, cook, watch movies or talk, you can find a place to fit in at St Peter’s. Click one of the opportunities below or contact the church office for more information.
